Sinn Féin Councillor Kathleen McGurk has stated that DfI Roads Service must engage more meaningfully in a safety review of Tullintrain crossroads, between Claudy and Park.
Speaking after receiving correspondence from Roads Service on the matter Councillor McGurk said: “I have been in contact with Roads Service about Tullintrain Crossroads since early February, shortly after another serious incident had occurred there.
"I have raised the need to assess the junction for a Stop Sign and also measures to reduce speed from oncoming traffic and increase visibility from the Claudy side of the junction.
“Unfortunately, Roads Service have yet to consider these measures and have only undertaken superficial improvements to the junction which has done very little to improve the overall safety of the junction.
"I will now be writing to the Department to request a site visit to further impress the importance of a full safety assessment.”
