Adelle Herald shows off one of the blankets she created to be donated to local elderly people through Stendhal Community.
Stendhal Community is reaching out to local knitters and crocheters, asking them to get involved with its new winter blanket initiative.
The scheme is designed to create and donate blankets to elderly Limavady residents in the lead up to the cold winter months, to try and help ease the fuel and cost of living crisis in a small but meaningful way.
Stendhal Community, the community arm of Stendhal Festival, is providing and delivering wool to anyone who is interested in taking part and you can also find patterns and instructions on how to make blankets on the Stendhal Community Facebook page.
Stendhal Community Manager Glenda Rolston said: “It is a worrying time for a lot of people in relation to keeping warm this winter, so we are trying to do our part in helping people through what could be a challenging couple of months.
“That’s why we are reaching out to people and asking for their skills to help us keep people toasty and warm through the winter in creative and colourful ways.”
Glenda added: “We already have an amazing squad of 30 people who are taking part, either individually or via community groups such as LCDI, Roe Valley Residents Association, The Salvation Army and The Tamlaght Finlagan Church of Ireland, so a massive thank you goes out to them.”
If you would like to get involved simply contact Glenda via email on Glenda@stendhalfestival.com.
