A man who was described in court as a 'serial perpetrator of domestic violence' has had his bail application adjourned at Derry Magistrate's Court today.
Anthony Coll (36) of Westend Terrace in Derry appeared on foot of an arrest warrant after police had being trying to locate him since July 9.
Coll is charged with assaulting a female, criminal damage to her property and making threats to kill the same woman on April 16.
A police officer said that Coll had 'a propensity for violence' having been convicted of domestic abuse against a former partner.
She said the defendant had 20 previous convictions and had breached this bail on several occasions.
The officer said that it appeared Coll's MO seemed to be choking.
The court heard that Coll had a 'poor bail history' and police feared he would continue to offend.
Defence solicitor Caoimhe McDaid asked that the ball application be adjourned as they had no contact with the accused since July.
District Judge Barney McElholm said that 'on the face of it he does not look like a suitable candidate for bail.'
The case was adjourned until December 5.
