A man who a solicitor said 'was old enough to know better' has been fined at Derry Magistrate's Court today for a charge of disorderly behaviour.
Stephen Hargan (37) of Victoria Court in Derry admitted one charge that occurred on October 21.
The court heard that police were attending an incident at Woodleigh Terrace in the city and the defendant was present 'shouting and swearing'.
He was warned about his behaviour and asked to leave the area but refused to do so.
Hargan told officers to 'f--k off' and despite being reminded about his behaviour he continued.
After being arrested Hargan continued and called a civilian custody officer names.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said his client should have walked away but with alcohol consumed he 'could not give it up'.
Hargan was fined £250.
