The Raphoe Royal and Prior Past Pupils' Association are planning a fundraiser to purchase a piece of their memorabilia that appeared on the Antiques Roadshow.

Last year on a BBC TV show, a bell was looked at, with the name ‘John Lamy 1778’ inscribed on it. Rev John Lamy was the Master of the Royal Free School  Raphoe at the time and the past pupils’ association are planning to return the bell to the school.

A table quiz is planned for later this month and anyone with further information is encouraged to get in touch with the past pupils’ association.

“A while back on the Antiques Roadshow a bell was presented for appraisal,” reads a post from the past pupils’ association. “John Lamy who was the Headmaster of the Raphoe Royal School in 1778 had his name inscribed on the School Bell. The proceeds from our table quiz on the 20th January will go towards the purchase of this bell and so return it home.  If anyone has other information we would love to hear from you.”
