Novice driver nabbed speeding in Donegal

The motorist, detected driving 44km/h above the sped limit, will receive penalty points and a fine, Gardai have said

A novice driver in Donegal was caught driving at 44km/h in excess of the speed limit.

The driver was apprehended on Wednesday night.

Gardaí from Buncrana Roads Policing Unit stopped a vehicle on the N13. Officers had detected the motorist travelling at a speed of 144km/h.

The road in question is governed by a 100km/h speed limit.

The driver will now receive three penalty points and will be fined €160.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Slow down. Save lives.”
