Wind farm cponcerns to be aired at public meeting tonight
Concerns about proposed wind farm developments in the Gweebarra Estuary area of west Donegal will be discussed at a public meeting to be held tonight, Saturday, January 7 in the Leitirmacaward Hall at 8pm. The hall is adjacent to the chapel.
A spokesperson for the Gweebarra Conservation Group said in the light of Donegal County Council's resolution being acknowledged by the Ministerial Directive the group and other environmental bodies are challenging Danish firm Ørsted to "cut their losses and do the right thing by declaring that they will not persist with their threatened planning application here".
Their statement added: "We do not consent to the commodification of the Glenties, Gweebarra or the Rosses so-called green energy companies can claim carbon credits to offset their digging. It's gambling on the wind. They know the cost of everything and the value of nothing."
