Drumkeen man Joe Brennan was honoured at Saturday Mass on his retirement from caretaking duties for St Patrick’s Church and Grounds, Drumkeen.
Joe worked for over 30 years in the Parish and school and is a well known community member. He recently retired to focus on his farm with his wife Eileen and he was also recently appointed as a Peace Commissioner.
“Thank you Joe for your dedicated years of service and your excellent care of the school, church, parish hall, parochial house, graveyard and all the parish grounds in Drumkeen,” Parish Priest, Fr Eamonn Kelly said, having presented a commemorative plaque to Joe at Mass.

“As they say 'If you enjoy what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life,'” Joe said. “I loved every day of my work with Drumkeen Parish for over 30 years. I’ve recently become a grandfather and I’m enjoying semi-retirement to spend more time with my family. I thank Fr Kelly and Sacristan Bridie Boyle for organising the presentation and to my wife and family for everything you do for me.”
