People of all ages in the Gaeltacht are invited to submit a piece of art on the theme of the rabbit.
An exhibition is being run by ArtSpace - Pobail le Chéile in Falcarragh. As we are entering the Chinese Year of the Rabbit, this has been chosen as the theme.
A spokesperson said: “The rabbit is represented in mythology in many different cultures. In Chinese culture, the rabbit is one of the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac.
“In Irish mythology, the hare was sacred and a symbol of abundance, prosperity and good fortune. They were believed to have connections to the Otherworld. They were treated with great respect and never eaten.
“Your art submission can be any style and of any medium (such as sketching, oils, acrylics, watercolour, felt pens, colouring pencils) so long as they represent and reflect your perceptions of the rabbit in your own or Chinese culture.”
Those who wish to make a submission are advised that their artwork should be no larger than A4 size. Submissions can be handed into Pobail le Chéile to any member of staff. The closing date is January 22.
Submissions will be displayed on the premises of ArtSpace in Falcarragh at Pobail Le Chéile. They will also be featured in an online exhibition on the ArtSpace and Pobail le Chéile Facebook pages.
