Burns Night returns to Letterkenny

Music and merriment promised at local gathering

Burns Night returns to Letterkenny

Robbie Burns Night celebrations return to Letterkenny on Saturday, January 21

Letterkenny and District Pipe Band has just announced the return of our popular Burns Night concert and supper.

After an absence of two years due to Covid this event is back with a mix of Irish and Scottish singing dancing and music from local talent with a break for their version of Burns Night supper including, haggis, neaps and tatties with a mix of stew added in.

A Burns supper is a celebration of the life and poetry of the poet Robert Burns (January 25, 1759 – July 21, 1796), the author of many Scots poems. The suppers are normally held on or near the poet's birthday, January 25, known as Burns Night (Scots: Burns Nicht; Scottish Gaelic: Oidhche na Taigeise and also called Robert Burns Day or Rabbie Burns Day). However, in principle, celebrations may be held at any other time of the year. Burns suppers are held all around the world.

Burns' seminal works include To a Mouse, Tam o'Shanter, A Red, Red Rose and, of course, Auld Lang Syne.

Everyone is welcome to the local event on Saturday, January 21 at 7.30pm in Conwal Parish Hall. which is behind the Church of Ireland church.

Tickets are €15 and are available from any member or ring (087) 7698650
