As the hospital crisis looms large across the nation and seems to go from one new challenging story to another, the INMO Trolley Watch figures for this morning indicate that Letterkenny University Hospital had 49 admitted patients waiting for beds and were currently on trolley beds there.

21 of those patients were based in the Emergency Department, while the remainder were distributed in other wards, throughout the hospital.

Sligo University Hospital, which covers south Donegal had 29 admitted patients waiting on trolley beds, 16 of whom were local in the SUH Emergency Department

Nationally, 595 admitted patients are waiting for beds this morning, according to today’s INMO Trolley Watch figures.

436 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 159 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

Despite these challenges, The Irish Heart Foundation yesterday awarded the Silver Happy Heart Award to Letterkenny University Hospital in recognition of the ongoing work at the hospital to promote healthy eating in the workplace.
