Unique partnership proved invaluable

Civil Defence help HSE reach snowed-in clients

One of the Civil Defence-HSE teams that helped reached vulnerable clients this week

A unique partnership involving Donegal Civil Defence and the HSE has provided an essential lifeline to a number of people in rural areas this week.

The Donegal Civil Defence Severe Weather Off Road (SWORD) Driver unit was activated by the HSE Home Care Support Team.

It requested assistance from Civil Defence with the transportation of local Home Care Support (HCS) Workers to the rural areas of Finn Valley, Ballybofey, Bridgend and Killygordon.

These areas were inaccessible by car due to the heavy snowfalls of recent days.

Civil Defence provided transport support with their 4×4 vehicles, ensuring HCS teams could continue to access vulnerable clients in rural communities.

Well done to all involved.
