Magh Ene TY student Jane Ryan is currently working as a teaching assistant in West Africa
Talk about a voluntary work placement during your Transition Year (TY) and the trip of a lifetime!
Well you couldn't get anything more exciting and exhilarating than the adventure that Jane Ryan from Magh Ene College in Bundoran, is having as a teaching assistant, in Ghana, West Africa.
The country is considered to be one of the least developed countries in the world, but also one of the fastest growing economies in Africa.
Jane will spend five weeks working as a teaching assistant in Accra, the country's capital, teaching six and seven-year-old students.
She independently organised this work experience with the ‘Future Stars’ Charity.
The Bundoran College revealed: "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and we look forward to hearing more from Jane on this eye-opening experience, upon her return.
"Jane’s volunteering really reflects the caring ethos promoted here in Magh Ene College and the importance of assisting those who are less fortunate. We are very proud of you Jane!"
Her school at Magh Ene is bursting with pride for Jane and her family, as they do of course, with all of their students who show their abilities, that will no doubt be a huge boost to them, when they leave school and college and eventually gain employment in the big world out there.
