Daniel O'Donnell has paid a heartfelt tribute following the sudden death of his sister Kathleen Doogan on Friday morning.

Kathleen, late of Kincasslagh, died suddenly on Friday morning at her home.

Kathleen, who was aged in her 60s, was best known in the area for having ran The Viking House Hotel.

Kathleen and her husband, John, ran the 14-bedroom hotel, which was owned by her brother, country singer Daniel, from 1993-2001.

“It is with great sadness and disbelief that I have to say that our dear sister Kathleen died suddenly this morning,” Daniel said on a Facebook post.

“We are all in shock and heart broken. May her soul rest in peace.

“Please keep us in your prayers."

Kathleen was involved in festivals in her local area and was a popular figure.

She will be sadly missed by husband John, daughters Trish and Fiona, sons John Francis and Daniel, sister Margaret (Margo), brothers John, James and Daniel, grandchildren, sons in law, daughters in law and extended family, neighbours and friends.

Kathleen’s remains are reposing at her residence in Kincasslagh from 12 noon on Saturday.

Her Funeral Mass takes at 11am on Monday in St Mary's Church, Kincasslagh with interment in Belcruit Cemetery.

Mass can be viewed on Kincasslagh Parish Facebook
