TG4 will air documentary about 'ordinary people who assisted' in Creesslough

TG4 have decided not to bow to appeals from the people of Creeslough and further afield and shelf a documentary that was to be aired tonight.

Last October, 10 people lost their lives when there was an explosion at the local service station and locals this week requested a show not be shown. 'An Craoslach' is due to air on TG4 tonight at 9:30pm.

“Having carefully considered all of the important and sensitive issues raised with us, we have decided that the documentary Iniúchadh TG4 - An Craoslach will air on TG4 tonight,” read a statement from TG4

“The documentary is about the ordinary people who assisted in the rescue at the scene before emergency services arrived. It contains interviews with some of those who risked their own lives to bring others to safety. The programme does not report anything about the victims other than what has already been reported publicly in the direct aftermath of the tragedy.”

Ten people lost their lives in the disaster last October. The victims were five year-old Shauna Flanagan Garwe, and her father Robert Garwe, 50, Leona Harper, 14, Hugh Kelly, 59, Jessica Gallagher, 24, Martin McGill, 49, James O’Flaherty, 48, Martina Martin, 49 Catherine O’Donnell, 39 and her 13 year-old son James Monaghan.
