The stretch of new road between Dungloe and Glenties at Leitirmacaward, one of the many to receive cash this year
Over €24m in funding has been confirmed for Donegal’s national roads and greenways.
This afternoon's announcement follows confirmation in recent weeks of €38m for Donegal’s regional and local roads and almost €1m for Donegal’s rural roads and laneways, a combined funding of €62m for the county's roads infrastructure in 2023.
Commenting, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Donegal TD., Charlie McConalogue said this funding announcement is important and, at one of the highest allocations in the country, is another major investment in the county.
"Our roads are the key to Donegal’s infrastructure and we must continue to maintain and upgrade where possible to keep Donegal safe and accessible.
"Our greenways are a wonderful tourist attraction and amenity for communities and I am delighted to confirm that over €2m will be invested in them in 2023, including just under €1m in Inishowen greenways alone.
He added that some of the major investment projects confirmed today are €1.5m for the Ten-T route and €5m combined for N56 Letterilly to Kilraine Junction.
"I thank Donegal County Council and all our councillors for their continued work,” he said.
