A Donegal man was one of those behind a new podcast that recalls the Good Friday agreement quarter of a century on.

Lochlainn Harte is the son of former Senator Jimmy Harte and Mary, who live in Letterkenny, and is Imaging Manager at Newstalk and worked as an audio editor on 'As I Remember It: Bertie Ahern and the Good Friday Agreement'.

It tells the story of the Good Friday Agreement as told by those who negotiated it and marks the first time all those involved have reunited to reflect on the negotiations in 25 years. The podcast topped the Apple Podcasts in Ireland on its launch day.

His role was to take the edited interviews from the producers and create the mix and soundscape for the series to create the best version.

“After months of tight lipped planning and late night editing, I'm excited to share some fantastic news about the recently launched podcast series by Newstalk ‘As I Remember It: Bertie Ahern and The Good Friday Agreement,’” Lochlainn said.

“This nine-part podcast series provides a unique audio insight into the Good Friday Agreement and I highly recommend giving it a listen. As an audio editor, I've been fortunate to work with a talented team consisting of Mark Simpson, Jess Kelly, Sandra Honan, Patricia Monahan, Louise Denvir and Rory Walsh, who have created a truly remarkable audio experience. It's my pleasure to share that on its launch day, 'As I Remember It: Bertie Ahern and The Good Friday Agreement' went to number one on #ApplePodcasts in Ireland, a testament to the power of audio storytelling."

The series features former Irish Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, as he reconnects with those who sat around the negotiating table 25 years ago, bringing the historic moments to life. It's a must-listen for anyone interested in politics, history, and audio storytelling.

You can listen to the podcast on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

Lochlainn formerly lectured in Audio Production at Dublin City University and was Production and Imaging Manager with Today FM. He was educated at St Eunan’s College in Letterkenny before completing a BSc in Multimedia at DCU and Masters in Sonic Arts, Spatial Audio, Sonic Arts, Composition, Ambisonics and Queen’s University in Belfast. He is married to Dr Eimear Gibbons, also from Letterkenny.
