The body of the dolphin showed visible signs of injuries
The body of a young dolphin has been found washed up on a west Donegal beach.
The dolphin, which had visible signs of injuries, was found on the sand at Port Arthur on Saturday morning by a member of the public out walking.
Local councillor Micheál Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuig, who was on the popular beach at the time, said he has reported the discovery to Donegal County Council. He said the beach was busy at the time with locals and visitors enjoying the spring sunshine.
Dolphins are often observed around Donegal’s coast and Ireland’s west coast has some of the greatest concentrations of Bottlenose dolphins in Europe.
