Children making their Confirmation in Kilmacrennan on Sunday helped the Bishop of Raphoe, Alan McGuckian SJ, toast his 70th birthday.

Bishop McGuckian was the chief celebrant for the confirmation at the Church of St Columba.

Parishioners ensured that the big milestone was marked and Bishop McGuckian was presented with a birthday cake.

A native of Cloughmills in County Antrim, he was ordained as the Bishop of Raphoe in 2017.

He became the first Jesuit Bishop in Ireland.
