Letterkenny Rovers pay tribute to the 'good humoured and helpful' Kieran McGrath

Following his passing on Wednesday, Letterkenny Rovers have sent their heartfelt condolences to Kieran McGrath’s family and as a mark of respect all club activities are to cease at Leckview Park until further notice

Letterkenny Rovers FC have paid tribute to the to the late Kieran McGrath.

Kieran played a huge part in the running of the Leckview-based club, where he was PRO.

"The news of the tragic death of our dear friend and valued member Kieran McGrath has left everyone at the club shocked and saddened," read a statement from Letterkenny Rovers.

"Kieran was our PRO and an extremely hard working committee member who performed many additional key roles within the club. He was always on the go, resourceful, good humoured and helpful. He devoted much of his time to the promotion of underage football at both club and county level. He will be sorely missed by us all at Letterkenny Rovers.

"As a mark of respect all club activities are to cease at Leckview Park until further notice. There will be no bingo tonight in the Station House Hotel and Saturday’s U-15 SFAI National Cup game away to Malahide United has also been postponed.
We send our heartfelt condolences to Kieran’s family. May he rest in peace."

Kieran is predeceased by his parents Liam and Breege, and will be deeply missed by his loving sisters Yvonne O’Connor and her husband Hugh (Claudy, Co Derry); Deirdre Crossan and husband Martin (Glenwood Park, Letterkenny); Bridgeen McGrath and partner Hughie Devenney (Glenwood Park, Letterkenny) and brother Liam and wife Catherine (Meadow Hill, Letterkenny), nieces, nephews, uncles and aunties and a wide circle of family, friends and neighbours.

Kieran's Remains reposing at his late residence - 122 Ard O’Donnell, Letterkenny F92 KT2R - on Friday, March 3, from 11am to 10pm and from 11am to 10pm on Saturday March 4. His funeral from there on Sunday, March 5, at 11.30am going to St Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny for 12 noon Requiem Mass, which can be viewed live on Letterkenny Church Services.

Interment afterwards to Conwal Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu of flowers, if desired, to Sheephaven Search and Rescue c/o of any family member. Rosary both evenings at 9pm. Family time on the morning of the funeral please.
