Progress on Raphoe castle and stone circle attractions queried

The Bishop’s Palace in Raphoe was built in 1636 and destroyed by fire in 1838

Progress or the lack of it on development work on Raphoe castle and the Stone Circle at Beltany has been queried.

The call was made during a report from the Donegal County Council's economic development, information systems and emergency services section to the Lifford-Stranorlar Municipal District meeting on Monday.

Cllr Frank McBrearty Jnr when he asked if there had been any update on his proposals to upgrade the castle and the stone circle to make them unique tourism experiences for the area.

"There is nothing in this report again that shows anything. I want an update please," he said.

Mary McBride from the council's economic development, information systems and emergency services section said she would b speak to the members of the team dealing directly with the matters and come back to him with more clarification.
