A fundraising night next month will remember a stalwart of Donegal football who tragically drowned last year.

Martin Duffy, a native of Ballindrait, drowned while on a family holiday in Greece in August.

The Deele Harps clubman was active across several football groups in the county.

Deele Harps are hosting 'A Night In Memory of Martin Duffy' at in Maggie's Tavern, Carrickmore, St Johnston on Saturday April 22.

“Marty was Mr Deele Harps, club secretary and a great friend to us all,” the club said.

All proceeds from the night will go to The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.

Martin was joint manager of the Donegal Schoolboys League 2007 team that competed in the Kennedy Cup and Foyle Cup tournaments last summer.

He was the Lifford Area Rep on the executive committee of the Donegal Junior League and was to the fore in the recent redevelopment of the Diamond Park in Ballyare.

A lecturer of plumbing at the North West Regional College, Martin lived in Coolatee, Lifford with his family.

Tickets are priced at 10 and are available from any member of Deele Harps, from Maggie's Tavern or pay at the door on the night.

The event kicks off at 8pm and there will be music by various local artists. There will also be a raffle and an auction on the night.
