The late Vincent 'Rocky' Blake.
Letterkenny is mourning the death of Vincent 'Rocky' Blake.
Late of Iona Road, he was a regular fixture on the Main Street, where he would help Dessie Kelly and Victor Fisher sell Letterkenny Rovers lottos.
A sports enthusiast, he was a keen follower of Rovers and St Eunan's.
Just last month, he attended the Donegal v Galway Allianz League Division 1 game at O'Donnell Park. That day, he had a close view as the stand was officially named after his good friend Dr James McDaid.
Letterkenny Rovers said they were 'deeply saddened' at his passing.
“Rocky, as he was affectionately known, was a great character around the club who helped out with selling our weekly lottos on the Main Street and he was always a welcome spectator at Leckview Park on match days,” they said.
“He was also a former player who enjoyed meeting up with his ex team mates and reminiscing about his playing days at the club.”
He was a retired healthcare assistant in Stradreagh Hospital in Derry and also worked for the HSE in Donegal.
His death is deeply mourned by his son Christopher (Derry) and the extended Blake family and wide circle of friends.
Vincent's remains will repose at the Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Mountain Top Letterkenny on Wednesday from 2.30-5.30pm, concluding with removal to St. Eunan’s Cathedral for reception prayers at 6pm.
He will repose overnight for 11am Requiem Mass on Thursday - which can be viewed online by using the link https://www.churchservices.tv/letterkenny - followed by burial in Conwal Cemetery.
Flowers welcome or donations if wished to Mary’s Meals c/o Paschal Blake Funeral Director.
