€2,236 raised at Tony Carlin Memorial Darts Tournament

The recent Tony Carlin Memorial Darts Tournament which was held in Teac Tábaírne Án Ríleán raised a massive €2,236.

The organisers praised what they called the outstanding generosity from people and local businesses.

A spokesperson said: “It was just overwhelming. We want to thank Graham for gathering all the prizes and donations, Paul McGill for helping set up the event, the bar staff on the day, as well as everyone who donated unreal prizes: McElhinney’s Store, McBride's Fireplaces, Jackson’s Hotel, Kia Kabs, Harkin's Bar, Driving Forward School of Motoring, James Ward, Shamrog Bar, Farrah's Hairdressers, O’Reilly's Sports, Niamh Kelly Pharmacy, The Ramblers Inn Connies, Cheer's Bar, Martin Harley, Marley’s Shop, Brockagh, Image Hairdressers Brockagh and Anthony Carlin who brought loads of prizes all the way from Kerry from the Healy-Rae Plant Hire.

“We would also like to thank the businesses that donated huge amounts of cash, The Reelin Bar, Kia Kabs, Ryan Dorrian, McKelvey's Bar, Patricia Carr, Pat Bonner, Anthony Conaghan Cars.”

The spokesperson added that a special word had to go to all the dart players on the day, all the people who bought tickets for the raffle and gave in donations also.

"It was just brilliant. Thanks to all our dart team who helped Jodie out on the day.

“It was a great day all around in aid of Pieta House.”

The winner was Gerard McGlynn while the runner-up was Christopher McBrearty.
