Francie Mooney to be fondly remembered at Éigse Uladh in Gaoth Dobhair

A man who had a lasting impact on Irish traditional music, a great love of sport and who was a principal of a Gaoth Dobhair school will be fitting remembered at this year's Éigse Uladh in Gaoth Dobhair.  

Those who attend the event, will hear testimonies and stories pertaining to the late Prionsias Ó Maonaigh, Francie Mooney. 

Born in Gaoth Dobhair in 1922 Francie was a renowned fiddle player who instilled the love of music in many of his students both at school and in local bands.

The three-day event was organised by local community group An Chrannóg. The event will take place from on April 28, 29 and 30.

Francie married Kitty in 1954, he married Gaoth Dobhair's Kitty Ní Ghallchóir and they had three children Mairéad, Gearóid and Anne. 

Francie shared a great love of theatre and drama and is strongly affiliated with Amharclann Ghaoth Dobhair. He was also a huge sportsman and enjoyed a great association with Cumann Lúthchleas Gael.
