The emergency entrance at what formerly the main entrance to Sligo Hospital
Donegal attendees for outpatient appointments and visitors to Sligo University Hospital (SUH) have been told not to be concerned if they come across a huge level of activity outside the hospital on Thursday morning.
This is because there will be additional ambulance vehicles, personnel and a decontamination tent on site as the National Ambulance Service (NAS) clinical decontamination team will be conducting a demonstration with SUH this Thursday.
The NAS will set up a clinical decontamination tent at the hospital and provide a full demonstration on clinical decontamination to the staff at SUH.
Clinical decontamination may be required at a hospital site for patients who self-present and haven’t been decontaminated at site of an emergency that involved potential exposure to a chemical hazard.
The demonstration will take place outside the Emergency Department entrance on Thursday April 27 from 11am to 1pm.
There will be additional ambulance vehicles, personnel and a decontamination tent on site for the purposes of the exercise.
The hospital has assured people attending the hospital that there will be no impact to services at the hospital or at the National Ambulance Service during this time and people should attend for their appointments as scheduled.
