Local councillor feels it is unsafe for parents to take children there

There's anger and frustration with Donegal County Council over work currently being carried out on the Maghery Road outside Dungloe, according to local councillor Micheál Choilm Mac Giolla Easbuig.

He claimed today that parents and school personnel attending the local Scoil Roisín were not able to go the usual road as was stated in a council email sent to Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig and posted on his Facebook page.

He added many were also highlighting the issues they faced on it.

"One parent told me it was a nightmare on back roads. The cars and buses were getting stuck and no traffic management to sort it out. This is shocking and completely unsafe," he said.

It is encouraging to see this work getting carried out but consideration has to be given to the local community in terms of commuting to work and school, after all, it is the community that we are here to serve.

He added he had been in touch with council officials about the nature of the delays but to date had not received a satisfactory answer to the questions the parents and locals were asking.
