Ulster-Scots Heritage Day in Raphoe on Saturday

Packed programme for this Saturday's Ulster Scots Heritage Day in Raphoe

The seventh annual Ulster-Scots Heritage Day takes place in Raphoe on Saturday, May 27

The event is a celebration of the rich Ulster-Scots heritage in East Donegal and commences at 12 noon at the Royal and Prior Comprehensive School's football pitch.  The new Ulster-Scots traditional folk band, Elbowed Out, will be performing and there will also be a display of up to 40 Highland dancers and the internationally renowned Drum Major display, The Force.

Compere on the day will be Fermanagh-based comedian Gary Wilson.

The event will also include performances from several Donegal and Northern Ireland-based pipe bands, who will form a massed pipe band under the command of Pipe Major Alex Brown from Arranmore. The bands will also take part in a parade of Raphoe led by the world-class drum majors’ display team.

Children’s entertainment and food stalls will be available at the football pitch.

Admission to the event is free.  Free car parking will also be available at Raphoe Livestock Market.

The Ulster-Scots Heritage Day has been organised by the Ulster-Scots Agency which has a regional office in William Street, Raphoe.
