Judge orders man to stay out of Four Lanterns and Aldi

A man has been ordered to stay out of the Four Lanterns and an Aldi store after appearing in court for theft.

Matthew Lafferty was brought before Monday's sitting of Letterkenny District Court.

The 34-year-old of Robinson Hall, Port Road, Letterkenny was granted bail with conditions attached.

Lafferty is charged with theft at Four Lanterns, Main Street, Letterkenny on March 8, 2023. He is charged with stealing €280 of cash, a passport, keys, a USB stick and bank account details.

Laffery is also charged with stealing groceries to the value of €25.47 at Aldi, Gortlee, on October 19, 2022.

Lafferty also faces a public order charge from Friday last, June 16, 2023, at Port Road, Letterkenny.

Evidence of arrest, charge and caution of Lafferty, who was represented by solicitor, Mr Patsy Gallagher.

Mr Gallagher told the court that there was consent to bail for Lafferty.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham granted bail on condition that Lafferty sign on twice a week at Letterkenny Garda Station, that he reside at a given address and that he be contactable by telephone 24/7.

Lafferty was also told to stay away from Aldi in Gortlee and Four Lanterns on Main Street.

The case was adjourned until September 25, 2023.
