A Kincasslagh man has pleaded guilty to possession of child abuse images on a mobile phone.

Patrick O'Keefe appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court to affirm his plea after being charged with possession of child pornography.

The accused is charged that at Dungloe Garda Station on October 2, 2020, he did knowingly have in his possession child pornography, to wit, 40 images of child pornographic content on a Samsung Galaxy mobile phone.

He was charged for the offence, which is contrary to Section 6 (1) of the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act, 1998.

The 28-year-old did not speak during the short hearing before Judge John Aylmer other than to affirm his plea.

O'Keefe's address was given as Chapel Road, Belcruit in Kincasslagh.

The accused man's solicitor, Ms Alison Parke, applied to have the usual exhibits order in the case.

O'Keefe was released on his own bail to appear again at the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court in October.
