Updates on housing projects in Donegal Municipal District
Councillors were told at the June meeting of the Donegal Municipal District that construction works were progressing very well onsite at their 24-unit phase three development at Railway Park in Donegal Town and that it was still due to be completed by August.
Regarding the situation at Drumacrin in Bundoran, it confirmed that the tender process was now complete and that a post tender meeting had taken place on June 1.
Council officials said that the anticipated start date was still next month, but that final contract matters are being progressed after which the contractor will be appointed, subject to Department approval.
While not mentioned, it is understood that among remaining items that are being ironed out, is the issue of traffic management in the area, which is close proximity to many existing householders in the East End of the town. 42 units are planned for this development.
The latest on 17 units to be eventually constructed (now at preliminary design stage) at New Row, Fintra Road in Killybegs is that while an application to the Department is being prepared for this project, the council is currently liaising with the ESB in order to divert an overhead powerline to provide access to the site.
A single unit development at Largymore in Kilcar was said to be where consultant appointments and architectural tender drawings are being finalised and that the project would be tendered in August or September.
Construction works have been completed for the 38 turnkey social housing units at Brookefield with contractual matters now over in advance of the units being let to families and individuals on the social housing list.
The same situation applied to five two bedroomed properties at Ballyshannon.
