Two Donegal pubs have been shortlisted for the 2023 Bar of the Year Awards.
With almost 600 submissions this year's Bar Awards have seen more entries than ever before, which made the judges' decision even harder as the competition was even stronger.
The Railway Tavern in Fahan has been shortlisted for Local Bar of the Year and the Oasis Bar in Letterkenny has been nominated for the Best Value Pub.
The Railway Tavern faces competition from An Poitin Stil, Dublin; Annie May's, Newcastle, Dublin; Dignam’s Bar, Monaghan; Gertie Brownes Bar and Bistro, Westmeath; Glynn's Bar, Galway; Jimmy Rabbittes, Dublin; K67 Bar & Grill, Dublin; Off The Bone Gastropub, Limerick; Old Mill, Tallaght - Dublin; Palmerstown House, Dublin; Peadars Bar Moate, Westmeath; The Black Forge Inn, Dublin; The Forty Four, Dublin; The Laurels Clondalkin and Veldons Seafarer, Galway.
Meanwhile, the Oasis Bar is up against Kehoes Pub & Parlour, Wexford; Peadars Bar Moate, Westmeath; The Black Forge Inn, Dublin and Thomas Francis Meagher Bar at the Granville Hotel, Waterford.
“After intense deliberation, only the best bars have been shortlisted as finalists,” event organisers said. “After months of rigorous evaluation and an exhaustive search for the most exceptional venues, we are thrilled to showcase the crème de la crème of the bar industry.
“We are thrilled to recognise the outstanding talents and remarkable establishments that have been selected as finalists for The Bar of the Year Awards. These individuals and venues have consistently raised the bar, delivering unparalleled experiences and pushing boundaries within the industry. We look forward to celebrating their accomplishments at the upcoming awards ceremony.”
All finalists will be considered for the 2023 People's Choice Award, voted by the public. Finalists are encouraged to share the voting form on their social media platforms and website to boost votes.
The winners will be announced at a gala dinner hosted by Anton Savage on Monday the 21st of August in the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin.
