Donegal Town hit by major water outage with repairs expected to last to 11pm

A burst mains water pipe is causing major disruption in wider Donegal Town area

An area taking in Donegal Town and the surrounding areas of Killymard, Mountcharles road, Leghowney, and parts of Lough Eske is without water due to a burst water mains.

Some householders had received notification that water supply would be interrupted due to scheduled work which took place overnight. Many people initially thought that it was taking a little longer than expected for supply to return.

However, Uisce Eireann has confirmed that the scheduled work is complete, and it is not the cause of the current disruption.

According to Uisce Eireann: "Repairs to a burst water main may cause supply disruptions to Leghaney, Cullionbuoy, Killymard, Redlin, Drumroosk, Donegal Town and surrounding areas.

"Works are scheduled to take place from 7am until 11pm on July 27.

"We recommend that you allow two to three hours after the estimated restoration time for your supply to fully return."
