Principal welcomes work at Moville Community College

The principal of Moville Community College said he is relieved that work has begun at the school.  Anthony Doogan, who will retire from his position at the college at the end of August, said he is delighted that construction work has been underway since last week.
Speaking on Raidió na Gaeltachta, Mr Doogan said he would not have been happy retiring if ground had not been broken on the job.
For 20 years there have been a lot of difficulties at the school, he said, especially in the last three to four years, and news that the work is underway will be welcomed by both staff and students alike.
“The number of students at the school is increasing and there will be more than six hundred students at the school next year and a lot of space is needed,” he said.
Earlier this year, Deputy Charlie McConalogue, confirmed that the extension project for Moville Community College received approval to proceed to tender under the Large Scale Capital Programme.
The project will consist of a new build extension to the current school including a two classroom SNU base.
In June,  Donegal ETB announced the appointment of a new principal of Moville Community College.
Caroline Doherty will replace Doogan, who is retiring from the post this summer. Originally from Clonmany, Caroline has been Deputy Principal of Moville Community College since September 2020, having previously taught in Scoil Mhuire, Buncrana and in Dublin.
Moville Community College is one of three post-primary schools managed by Donegal ETB in Inishowen with a school population of in excess of 600 students.
