Donegal Bay Cycling Club is hosting the 10th annual Round The Houses Cycle Race on Thursday, August 10 in Ballyshannon

Registration takes place at the Lakeside Centre, Ballyshannon from 6pm with the race starting at 7pm outside Dorrian’s Imperial Hotel. Entry fee is €20.

There will be eight circuits, totalling approximately 40km. Cycling Ireland rules apply, minimum limited competition licence applies. Roads are open so rules of the road apply, some diversions may be in place for motor traffic. Refreshments will be served afterwards in McIntyre’s Bar, The Mall.

A spokesperson for the event organisers said: “This event is a huge spectacle to be enjoyed by the people of Ballyshannon, watching these guys and hopefully girls showing their prowess cycling up the Main Street eight times.

“Hopefully the weather is going to be pleasant.

“This event run by Donegal Bay Cycling Club, a premier cycling event in the north west will be fully marshalled by the Club with the continued help from the MSC Triathlon Club, who have always assisted.

“This is a very tough challenge for all participants, open to all ages and ladies as well as men, the event is almost 40 Km long and this year hopefully filmed from the sky by drones.”

After the top of Main Street the race continues to the Erne Roundabout at Donegal Road where it turns south and over the Aodh Ruadh bridge to turn left heading towards the Belleek Road Roundabout and back in the Belleek Road to the Bridge End Roundabout and right up the town once more.
