The Killybegs History & Heritage Committee, in association with Donegal Railway Museum, have announced they will be giving a talk on the County Donegal Railway later this month in Killybegs.

The lecture by railway historian and Donegal Railway Museum board member Jim McBride is titled ‘The County Donegal Remembered.’

Jim has also the Irish Editor of the Disused Stations website. The presentation will cover the history of this famous railway and will showcase many unique unpublished photographs which have never been seen before, from the 1930's right up to its closure in 1959, as well as other unique railway photographs in and around Killybegs.

The photographs are part of the museum's most recent publication, produced by Jim, and will be available on the night of the talk.

There will also be an opportunity for local people to talk about their direct experiences of the railway and members of the public are also encouraged to bring in anything they might have connected with the railways to encourage further dialogue about this important part of Donegal's history and Killybegs’ important role in it.

For more information contact 087 294297. The event takes place at the Tara Hotel in Killybegs on Tuesday, August 15, at 7pm.
