Roderick Gray will be staying in Donegal Town next month

A man who will be holidaying in Donegal next month is looking to see if he has any ancestral links to the county.

Roderick Gray, who is from Braintree, Essex, and now resides in Suffolk, is attempting to trace a part of his family history and is hopeful he and his wife might even get the chance to meet anyone who might be able to help in Donegal.

“I am trying to find out more about my father's family,” he told DonegalLive. “He was born and raised in Fife; his mother was Jeanie McMaihn, father unknown (possibly surname Morrison). DNA analysis shows that I have a 28% link to South Donegal, suggesting that either my grandmother or grandfather came from there.

“My wife and I are staying at the Mill Park Hotel, outside of Donegal Town from September 7-11. Alternatively, my email address is roderickgray@btinternet.com. I realise it is a very long shot and I would love to talk with anyone who may have information.”
