Danny McLoone and his dad Johnny, who lined out for Naomh Conaill and Donegal
Danny McLoone’s three-year battle undergoing leukemia treatment at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin is finally over and the family are now looking forward to “the next chapter in our lives.”
The son of former Donegal forward Johnny McLoone - a three-time Donegal SFC winners with his club Naomh Conaill of Glenties in 2005, 2010 and 2015, who also lined out for Donegal - and his wife Geraldine was initially diagnosed in June 2020.
Then five years old, Danny fought through in Crumlin and this week Johnny, who runs a butcher’s business in Killybegs, posted the heart-warming news.
“Just over three years from Danny being diagnosed with leukemia, we have finally arrived at the point of him getting to ring the bell in Crumlin to signal the end of his treatment,” the McLoone Butchers Killybegs Facebook page posted. “We want to thank everyone for all your love and support throughout this tough time especially our friends and families who in the toughest of times were always there for us, our girls Sarah and Eve who at times had to show maturity way beyond their years and who’s love for their brother was immense
“Finally a word about Danny what an unbelievably tough wee boy who has amazed us every step of the way he accepted everything that came at him and taught us all so many lessons along this path that we found ourselves on we are so proud of him as look forward to the next chapter in our lives.”
