Colourful times in Ballybofey this Sunday for the Kym Kolour Fun Run and (inset) the late Kym Harley

There’s nothing like a splash of colour to brighten up anyone's day and this will certainly be the case in Ballybofey this coming Sunday when Kym’s Kolour Fun Run resumes after a break of four years.

The event, held in memory of the late Kym Harley who tragically died following a car accident in 2014, welcomes all comers to a 5k fun run-walk starting at 2pm from the Shopping Centre car park on Main Street and making its way up the town, turning down at Lidl and out Trusk Road and then back to the town finishing up on Navenny Street.

The entry fee is €10 per person, €20 per family, students €5 and all money raised will go to local good causes. Participants are asked to wear bright colours, multi-coloured wigs and a white t-shirt. You can register from today (Thursday) onwards or on the day of the run at Cheers Bar until 1.30pm.

The event is also an opportunity for the Harley family to mark 30 years in business in the town. Kym’s father Martin, who is the cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council, also owns the popular Cheers bar.

He has promised to mark both the return of Kym’s run and the anniversary with music, parties and a special offer over Saturday and Sunday - all drinks in the bar costing €3.30.

“We hope to make it a fun family weekend and it's great to raise money for very worthy causes. It’s great to have the run going again and I hope the weather holds out and everyone enjoys themselves,” he said.
