Saturday was a big day for Declan and Michelle Doherty, who got married in Rathmullan.
Their reception was taking place later in the evening at An Grianan Hotel in Burt, were plenty of those in attendance were keeping tabs on how Carndonagh were getting on in Letterkenny, in the Donegal Intermediate Hurling Cup final against MacCumhaill's.
In an exciting showpiece, it was Carndonagh who came out on top at O'Donnell Park on a 2-12 to 2-8 scoreline and celebrations followed as soon as the final whistle was blown. As the winning panel were making their way home later on, they stopped off at An Grianan Hotel to give the newly-married Declan - who is a brother-in-law of Carndonagh GAA club chairman Philip McLaughlin - and Michelle a chance to see the trophy.
"The Mooneys decided to sneak out of the wedding to cheer the Hurlers on as they headed home with their silverware," Carndonagh GAA club posted. "The beautiful bride thought she would join in on the action too Congratulations to the bride & groom Declan & Michelle!"
