Following a high volume of people walking-in to the service without appointments in the region, the HSE Civil Registration Service in the north west is urging the public to use their online facility to book appointments for the registration of births and deaths in Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim.

They say that while staff always endeavour to accommodate the public they are advising people to use the online system to book in advance to ensure an appointment will be available when they arrive.

The HSE Civil Registration Service registers all births, deaths and marriages in Ireland as well as carrying out civil marriage registrations. There are five Civil Registration Service offices across the North West.

Online booking enables members of the public across counties Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal to book a birth or death registration appointment online at a date and time that they choose at Civil Registration offices in the area.

The online appointment system enables parents to book a birth registration appointment online for a date and time that they choose.

Whereas Civil Registration Offices continues to operate as normal, including by phone for couples wishing to make an appointment to serve notice of intention to marry, the online appointment process makes it quicker and easier for parents to organise their registration appointment at a time and date that works for them. Appointments can also be easily cancelled with the click of a button.

The “Swiftqueue” operated system is available by clicking here:
