Killea man to face trial over child abuse stash

A book of evidence will be served on the man later this year after he was found in possession of three unique images and 10 unique video files, which constitute child pornography.

A Donegal man is to stand trial for possessing child abuse material.

A book of evidence is due to be served on Terence Steele later this year.

The 49-year-old, with an address at Ashlea, Killea, has been charged in connection with the find.

Sergeant Jim Collins told Letterkenny District Court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has directed that the case be sent forward to the Circuit Court.

The accused is represented by solicitor Mr Kieran O’Gorman.

Steele is charged that on May 18, 2022 at his home address, that he did knowingly have in his possession child pornography to wit, three unique images and 10 unique video files which constitute child pornography. The offence is contrary to Section 6(1) of the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act, 1998.

Legal aid was granted to Mr O’Gorman and Judge Ciaran Liddy adjourned the case until November 6 for the service of a book of evidence.
