Men barred from west Donegal areas after robbing from Crolly shop

Two men from County Armagh have been barred from areas west Donegal after robbing around €200 of alcohol from a shop in Crolly on Monday.

Daniel McGonnell and Sean McGonnell, who were brought before Letterkenny District Court on Tuesday, have been told to  from Gweedore, Annagry and Dungloe.

Daniel McGonnell, a 34-year-old of Canal Court, Middletown, Armagh and 30-year-old Sean McGonnell, with an address at Rawes Road, Derrynoose, Keady, have been charged over an incident at O’Donnell’s Mace in Crolly.

They are charged with stealing an assortment  of bottles of alcohol including vodka and whiskey to the value of between €180-€200. The offence is contrary to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001.

Evidence of the arrest, charge and caution of each man was given to the court by Sergeant Jim Collins.

Sergeant Collins said there was no objection to bail, but sought a number of conditions.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham granted bail on condition that the men stay out of Gweedore, Annagry and Dugloe, save for court dates, that they abstain from alcohol, they commit no further offence and be of good behaviour and that they not interfere with any witnesses or the alleged injured party.

Legal aid in respect of each man was granted to solicitor Mr Frank Dorrian.

The matter was adjourned to the October 10 sitting of Dungloe District Court.
