Glenties came alive with thousands thronging to the town for the Harvest Fair weekend.

A lively weekend of song, dance, pageantry and craic drew people from near and far.

The Glenties Harvest Fair dates back to 1972, when a fair day would take place each month. The September fair day grew into the huge annual carnival it is now known as.

On Saturday evening, Jimmy Buckley entertained patrons at the Highlands Hotel after jiving at the bridge and a carnival parade early in the afternoon.

The return of Jim McGuinness - one of Glenties’ most famous sons -  as the Donegal senior football manager was marked on a float put together by Kilkenny National School.

The annual pet show at Sonny’s Bar kicked off the weekend.

Tuesday is fair day where people will be able to enjoy street traders, traditional crafts and exhibitions, the sheep mart and auction, traditional music and dancing.
