Killybegs Coast Guard who were deployed along with Arranmore RNLI to the stranding of the three people
Three people and a dog were rescued from rocks at Maghera Strand on Saturday evening after they became stranded, due to an incoming tide.
Arranmore RNLI and Killybegs Coast Guard (KCG) were both involved in the rescue which was co-ordinated by Malin Head Coast Guard.
KCG were tasked at 7.15pm following the report of the stranded persons and their dog stranded on rocks after being cut off from the shore by the incoming tide at Maghera strand.
A spokesperson for KCG said: "We proceeded by road to the location. The three persons were rescued from the rocks by the Arranmore RNLI who deployed their Y-Boat.
"The lifeboat crew took the three persons to Portnoo pier and the Killybegs Coast Guard team then took them back to their car at Maghera.
"A great call by the persons to call for help in a very timely manner with daylight fading fast."
Officer in Charge at KCG Shane McCrudden told Donegal Live: "This was a brilliant example of interagency cooperation by ourselves and the Arranmore Lifeboat, and we train for these very reasons working together to effect a timely and professional rescue.
"During the incident, it was planned to land the casualties to the beach where the Killybegs Coast Guard were waiting but with having considered the conditions it was deemed safer to take all three casualties and their dog on-board the lifeboat to be transferred to Portnoo pier were we met the Lifeboat."
