Works welcomed on both Falcarragh and Dunfanaghy sites

Falcarragh Community Hospital

It has been confirmed that work has started on-site at Falcarragh Community Hospital. A section of the hospital has been closed since the pandemic.

Welcoming the work, the Cathaoirleach of the Glenties Municipal District, Cllr Michael McClafferty said: "A section of the community hospital has been closed since the pandemic with the loss of over 20 beds possibly more."

He added that respite care had also been taken away from that time which has added to the strain on Letterkenny University Hospital.

"I want to welcome the much needed work that is being carried out for all concerned," he said.

In correspondence to Mr McClafferty the HSE said they expect work to be completed in Falcarragh by the end of 2024.

Cllr Mc Clafferty also welcomed the works on the new Health Centre in Dunfanaghy: "It’s great to see such progress being made on a project we all fought so hard for. It’s expected works will be well advanced inside a year."
