A man is due in court on Tuesday morning in connection with a fatal road traffic collision in which a nine-year-old boy was killed in Bundoran on Saturday night.
The man, who is aged in his 20s, will be brought before Carrick-on-Shannon District Court.
The man was arrested on Sunday for an offence under the Road Traffic Act.
He was detained at Ballyshannon Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 before being charged on Monday by officers probing the incident that saw nine-year-old Ronan Wilson lose his life.
Gardaí seized a vehicle in connection with the investigation and a technical examination will be carried out. They are continuing to appeal to anyone with information or who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
“Investigations ongoing,” a Garda spokesperson said.
Ronan, who was from Kildress in Co Tyrone, was visiting Bundoran when he was struck by a vehicle on Saturday evening at around 9.20pm.
Ronan was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later. The vehicle involved in the collision failed to remain at the scene.
