Motorist nabbed after driver throws €1,100 cannabis  package out of car

Over €1,100 worth of cannabis was thrown from a car in Donegal on Sunday after the driver failed to stop for Gardai.

The motorist was apprehended by Gardai on suspicion of drug-driving.

The attention of officers from the Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit was initially drawn by a driver who they suspected to be using a mobile phone while driving and not wearing a seat belt.

The vehicle failed top stop and a package was discarded. The abandoned package, containing around €1,100 worth of suspected cannabis was seized by Gardai.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed that the motorist was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving.
