Over €150,000 in funding announced for Stranorlar FET at Finn Valley College

Over €150,000 in funding announced for Stranorler FET at Finn Valley College

Significant funding has been announced to improve facilities and expand services at Stranorlar Further Education and Training Centre (FET).

Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Simon Harris TD announced the funding to improve the Stranorlar FET based at Finn Valley College. 

A capital investment of €153,750 will be used to provide additional accommodation to enable the consolidation of the provision of services for Post Leaving Certificate (PLC) courses.

“Better facilities make for better learning and today’s announcement is an investment in the learner,” Minister Harris said.

“I am so pleased to announce that your proposal has been successful under the Strategic Infrastructure Upgrade Fund programme call for the addition of facilities to your Further Education and Training Centre in Stranorlar.

“This will allow the FET Centre to extend their offering to students, facilitate the building of ICT capacity amongst your learners as well as enhance the learner experience for students and staff at the Stranorlar Further Education and Training Centre.”

Stranorlarorlar FET is one of the six locations benefitting from the Strategic Infrastructure Upgrade Fund. Donegal Education and Training Board (ETB) will receive funding from SOLAS for this project.

“Today marks a significant development for learners and communities in Donegal, with the capital investment in Finn Valley College enhancing the facilities and experience for its learners,” Chief Executive of SOLAS, Andrew Brownlee, said.

“A warm congratulations to my colleagues in Donegal ETB, and all of the potential learners in Co Donegal and the surrounding areas.”

“We wish to thank the Minister for this much-needed investment in our FET Centre in Stranorlar. We also want to express our gratitude to the Minister for his continued commitment to Further Education and Training,” Anne McHugh, Chief Executive of Donegal ETB, said.

“This investment allows Donegal ETB to further consolidate provision in the Finn Valley area and is another step towards meeting key Future FET Strategy targets.”
