Bundoran Community Centre held their Interactive Beach Art Event on what turned out to be the most glorious autumn Sunday morning.
A large size image of ‘Spot the humpback whale’, who was resident in Donegal Bay over the summer months, was painted onto several art tiles created by the wonderful artist, Heather Cassidy.
And coming in at a whopping 18 metres by 6.3 metres in size the centre needed the public's help in assembling this wonderful creation.
Heather is no stranger to Beach Art, but this was the first of its kind, with the public’s help needed to finish the creation.
Over 80 people on the day participated ranging from ages three to 60plus, and helped bring Spot to life on the Main Beach of Bundoran in this "one of a kind beach art".
A delighted Danielle Carty, Manager of the Bundoran Community Centre explained:
"We were so lucky with the weather, we were originally to host this event on the day of our Bay Swim back in August, but the weather scuppered our plans, we are delighted that we finally got the opportunity to run it.
“The support that came from the community, both local and visitors was phenomenal, a huge thank you to all who got involved and to the team in the background who helped ensure the event ran smoothly.
“I would also like to recognise and thank the DLDC for funding the project through the SICAP Programme and to Clean Coasts for also helping to support it.
“We are so grateful for their support; without them we could not have run this.
“Finally, a huge thank you to Heather, we think she did amazing work creating such a large-scale interactive piece of art, and delighted with how well it turned out!"
